SILVIA VENTURINI FENDI STEPS DOWN AS FENDI’S CREATIVE DIRECTOR

In the ever changing world of fashion, some announcements feel like the end of an era yet also the beginning of something new. Silvia Venturini Fendi, granddaughter of the founders of the legendary Roman maison, has decided to step down from her role as Creative Director of Fendi. But this is not a farewell. Starting October 1, she will take on the prestigious position of Honorary President of the brand.

Her new role goes far beyond ceremony. Silvia will focus on nurturing and expanding the house’s legacy, strengthening its global presence, celebrating the excellence of Italian craftsmanship, and sharing the creative world of Fendi Casa with a wider audience. In other words, she will safeguard the soul of the maison the spirit that has shaped its identity for nearly a century.

Silvia’s influence on fashion cannot be overstated. She is the mind behind two of Fendi’s most iconic creations, the Baguette and Peekaboo bags, which redefined luxury accessories. Since 1992, she worked closely with Karl Lagerfeld, and by 1994, she became Creative Director of Accessories and Menswear later extending her vision to womenswear as well.

Reflecting on her journey, Silvia describes it as a deeply personal and creative adventure: “These were years I lived not only in the name of my grandmother Adele, my mother Anna, and her sisters, but also with the responsibility of carrying on our family’s story. I think of Karl, a true master, who taught me the art of sharing a vision. Thanks to him, I found the courage to develop my own creative voice. This was a remarkable journey, not only professionally but also on a human level from working alongside Karl, to building bonds with Kim Jones, and finally with my incredible team, who became like a second family.”

Ramon Ros, President and CEO of Fendi, echoed this sentiment, paying tribute to her influence: “Since 1992, Silvia has shaped the creative direction of Fendi, helping transform it into a global name in luxury fashion. Her vision bridged the maison’s Roman roots with a forward-looking spirit, culminating in the centenary celebrations of the house. I am excited to see how, in her new role, she will continue to inspire craftsmanship and design worldwide.”

While Silvia may no longer be leading the creative studio, her impact on Fendi will remain profound. And knowing her passion for heritage and artistry, the next chapter of her journey promises to be just as inspiring as the ones that came before.
